Dutch Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp has said that Turkiye can contribute to the new European security structure due to its strong, efficient and experienced military force.

Speaking exclusively to Anadolu yesterday, Veldkamp explained that the new European security structure is currently under development.

It is important for Turkiye to also have a seat at the table. It has a large, capable and experienced military force, and it can contribute in this context, he said.

Commenting on the latest developments in Syria, Veldkamp stressed the importance of the new government continuing the transition process “in an inclusive manner” following the overthrow of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime.

He pointed out that Syria is home to diverse identities, including Sunni, Alawite, Christian, Kurdish and Druze communities.

“It is extremely important to have an inclusive transition that embraces everyone; otherwise, the country could fall back into a cycle of violence,” he warned.
