On Sunday, Egyptian Copts and activist groups blamed the current Egyptian Prime Minister, Hazem Al-Beblawi, and the interim government for the gunfire that targeted a church and resulted in three deaths in the Al-Waraq neighbourhood in Giza.
Below is the the transcript and the video of the priest from that church describing the events.
TV Presenter: What happened yesterday?
Priest: The Church serves the poor community of Al Warraq neighbourhood. We had a wedding ceremony organized in the Church and people were standing outside waiting for the bride and groom when a motorcycle passed by. The vehicle which carried two passengers did not have plate on.
When the vehicle approached us, one of the passengers opened fire injuring many then fled the scene. The people were in a state of shock. Everyone tried to help; aiding the injured and carrying them to hospitals while others tried to protect the Church premises. I would like to thank our Muslim brothers who rushed to help as soon as they heard of the incident. Three of the injured who lay in hospital now are Muslims who attended the wedding ceremony as guests.
