Retired general criticises Egyptian government for resorting to military option

February 5, 2014 at 10:16 am

A retired army general has said that the coup government’s use of security forces to try to solve every problem indicates that it is failing to manage the country’s affairs. Speaking to Al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr, Major-General Adel Sulaiman said that Egypt’s many problems require political initiatives based on social justice with equality for all citizens.

The director of the Strategic Dialogue Club denounced the assault on the villages of Kirdasa and Dalja using ground troops supported by helicopters. “Such operations actually weaken the combat capabilities of the army,” he insisted.

General Sulaiman called upon the coup leaders to open up political dialogue with the “angry” Egyptian people.
