Israel allows 100 settlers to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque

February 10, 2014 at 11:56 am

The Al-Aqsa Foundation for Religious Endowments and Heritage announced on Thursday that Israeli occupation forces protected at least 100 settlers who stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque while denying dozens of Palestinian students and senior clerics from entering the mosque, forcing them to wait outside its gates. Israeli forces have been imposing strict procedures for Palestinians who wish to enter the mosque, even confiscating the identity cards of those who have been allowed in.

Meanwhile, the dozens of Palestinian students and senior clerics who were allowed to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque have dispersed across its yards to protect it from the Jewish settlers, reportedly using the mosque’s speakers to protest against the Israeli intrusions.

In a related development, earlier this morning Israeli forces detained Mr Abdullah Abu Bakr, a senior cleric, and took him to the Qishleh police centre for interrogation.

According to the 48 Palestinians news site, at least seven members of the Israeli intelligence were among the intruders who entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
