Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood says no progress in dialogue

February 11, 2014 at 2:13 pm

The Deputy General Guide of Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood, Zaki Bani Irsheid, denied media reports that Jordanian authorities have made an official request to meet with the Muslim Brotherhood, saying: “We did not receive anything official on this matter. There is no progress on the dialogue between the authorities and the Brotherhood.”

According to Bani Irsheid, the government’s previous efforts to engage the Brotherhood in dialogue were only to satisfy public opinion. “We need real dialogue to draw a roadmap to implement the national reform process,” he said.

Jordanian media outlets have reported that Jordanian officials will be meeting with members of the Muslim Brotherhood in an attempt at dialogue.
