Foreign Minister insists on Egypt's sole sovereignty over Sinai

February 17, 2014 at 11:19 pm

Egypt’s Foreign Minister has insisted that Sinai is Egyptian land and his country is the only one with legal sovereignty over it.

Speaking about the security situation in Sinai to Al-Arabia TV, Mohammed Kamel Amr said, “Sinai is a part of the internal policy of Egypt and Cairo will not allow any other side to intervene in its affairs.”

Commenting on the situation in Syria, Mr Amr said that he does not expect there to be a position for Bashar Al-Assad in any new Syrian leadership.

Amr, who refuses to accept any external military intervention in Syria, added that Iran has a significant role to play in solving the issue.
