Mofaz regrets failure to assassinate Meshaal during Gaza visit

Reports from Israel claim that opposition leader Shaul Mofaz has expressed regret over the fact that Israel did not assassinate Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal during his first visit to the Gaza Strip.

The head of the Kadima Party, who is an ex-army minister, said: “Israel should have seized the opportunity to liquidate the head of the snake.” He added that Meshaal should “pack his bags as soon as possible and leave Gaza.”

Mofaz also said that it is important for Israel not to “weaken” Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. “If we do not deal with Hamas with an iron fist, we will soon see Meshaal in Judea and Samaria [sic; the occupied West Bank].”
