Ninety Palestinians wounded by Israelis in Hebron

February 17, 2014 at 1:49 am

Ninety Palestinians were wounded, one critically, as clashes erupted on Thursday evening between Palestinians and Israeli occupation forces in Hebron. The clashes started after the funeral of a 17 year old boy, Mohamed Salaymeh, who was killed by an Israeli soldier on Wednesday, his birthday. Claims that he was carrying a “toy gun”, which prompted the soldiers to open fire, have been disputed by witnesses and the boy’s family.

Red Crescent medical sources in Hebron said that the casualties included 20 people hit by live fire from the soldiers. Mohammed al-Shorbati is in a critical condition after being shot in the chest.

Witnesses said that clashes are ongoing with a heavier than usual presence of Israeli occupation troops in the city. According to Israeli radio, the occupation forces are on high alert all over the West Bank due to fears of demonstrations after Friday prayers.
