Egypt and international bodies have warned Hamas about new Israeli aggression against Gaza

A leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has confirmed that the government in Gaza has received warnings from Egypt and other official international bodies about Israel’s intention to launch another attack on the occupied Gaza Strip. In a statement to the Jordanian media, Mahmoud Al-Zahar said, “The resistance in Palestine is braced for Israel’s aggression and preparing for it.”

The Hamas leadership is, he added, taking the warning seriously, given that the international community, including the Arab world, is largely silent about what faces the Palestinians living under Israel’s occupation. The Israelis, he believes, are thus capable of doing anything knowing that the world will sit and watch.

In his statement to Alghad in Jordan, Mr. Al-Zahar confirmed that the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip have agreed to activate the “rationalization of armed actions” concept in the face of ongoing Israeli incursions. This process will see military responses to Israeli aggression being limited to those which have a positive result for the people of Palestine; any which do not serve the national interest will be avoided. All resistance factions, he said, are committed to stopping armed action should Israel call a halt to its invasive tactics against the people of Gaza.
