The Popular Committee against the Siege has organised a rally to demonstrate their firm support and solidarity with the Libyan vessel attempting to breach the Israeli siege of the Gaza Strip. Residents of the Strip have continued to express strong disapproval of Israel’s actions against vessels carrying humanitarian aid to the besieged territory.

According to latest reports, the Israeli Navy has threatened to use force against the Libyan vessel, which is carrying a number of peace activists. The Palestinian MP, Jamal al-Barges, has said that after several hours of Israeli forces jamming the humanitarian vessel’s communications equipment, the ship was intercepted approximately 100km off the coast of Gaza. Al-Barges called for international protection for the ship and the urgent need to prevent Israel from targeting it stressing that the occupation was the problem and not the ship.
