February 20, 2014 at 3:33 pm

A human rights center concerned with prisoners’ issues stated that the Israeli Occupation Authorities are currently detaining 17 members of the Palestinian Legislative Council.

The center noted that the Israelis, yesterday, arrested and detained MP Samir El Qadi, from the Hebron town of Surif, in the Occupied West Bank,

The Ahrar Center for the Studies of Prisoners and Human Rights has confirmed that the number of PLC members currently detained in Israel prisons has reached 17, including 9 MPs from Hebron, in addition to two former ministers – Eisa Al Jaabari and Wasfi Qabha.

In a press statement, the center denounced the “rabid campaign waged by the Occupation against the legal representatives of Palestinian legitimacy in the West Bank”.

The center affirmed that Israel’s targeting of PLC members is only continuing because of the lack of any serious action to stop these violations. It called for a broad international campaign to expose the Occupation and end this practice.
