The families of Palestinian prisoners detained in Israeli jails protest in front of the Red Cross headquarters to highlight the conditions in which their loved ones are being kept in.
The head of the Supreme National Committee to support prisoners in Gaza and the Minister of the Prisoners' Affairs, Muhammad al-Ghoul commented: "The decision of the Israeli occupation to transfer the unwell patients from the Ramla prison hospital to the central prisons is as good as executing them."
This action has put the lives of the prisoners in serious danger. According to statistics issued by several human rights organisations, the policy of deliberate medical neglect, followed by the Israeli prison authorities against the Palestinian prisoners has caused the deaths of tens of prisoners.
The Israeli occupation has claimed that prison conditions have improved and that the transfer from the prison hospital came after consultation with the prison doctor.
Ghoul warned of the high number of prisoners who have died as a result of being moved into Israeli prisons from the Ramla hospital which has been known for its lack of resources to care for the 1,500 or so sick prisoners.
Prisoners in Israeli jails suffer various types of harassment in violation of human rights and humanitarian laws of humanity by depriving them of basic necessities of life, especially adequate medical treatment.
