The Zionist movement will be "empty if it abandons Jerusalem"

The President of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, has called on the Jewish people to stick closely to [occupied] Jerusalem because “the Zionist movement will be empty if it abandons the Holy City”. Speaking on Hebrew Radio, Mr. Reuven Rivlin said, “Jerusalem needs people who realize that the Zionist movement couldn’t abandon it.” He warned the Israeli public about the “risk of losing the importance of Jerusalem and dropping interest in it.”

Mr. Rivlin added, “There are those in the Zionist parties who consider Jerusalem as a problem and a barrier to the survival of the State of Israel.” He then pointed out that there are “politicians and public figures who have already sought to enact laws to protect Jerusalem, and they are now seeking any means by which to reduce the value of the content of these laws”.
