April 12, 2014 at 11:55 am

An Arab League delegation headed by Deputy Secretary-General Ambassador Ahmed Bin Heli flew to Kuwait yesterday in preparation to the 35th Arab Summit that kicks off next week.

The delegation comprises 120 members from various departments and specialisations from the League’s General Secretariat, which is directly concerned with the issues on the agenda of the summit and its preparatory meetings.

They took with them a number of documents and special papers related to the summit. The delegation also included a number of Arab ambassadors and Arab League delegates who are accredited by the organisation.

Before heading to Kuwait, Ben Heli said the summit’s agenda is open for discussions on any urgent topics in line with suggestions from Arab states. Possible topics on the agenda include terror, the Syrian crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, and the Arab-Qatari reconciliation.

The Arab League’s Secretary-General Dr Nabil El-Araby is set to join the delegation in Kuwait today.

Bin Heli added that the summit’s sessions will start today with high-level meetings, then the leaders-level daily meetings will be held on March 25-26.
