Lieberman warns of Security Council anti-settlement resolution

Israel’s Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned of the implications that may result from a draft resolution on settlements initiated by the Palestinian Authority in the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Lieberman said in letters sent to his counterparts in the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada and Australia and foreign ministers of the European Union that the Palestinian draft resolution seriously hurts the negotiations which are at a sensitive stage.

Lieberman pointed out that the Palestinian initiative raises questions of the Palestinian side’s true interests and the goodwill they are willing to show in the negotiations.

Lieberman emphasised that Israel reserves the right to take appropriate action if the UN Council adopts the Palestinian draft resolution.
