Egypt's Doctors Syndicate continues strike till demands met

May 3, 2014 at 3:02 pm

Dr Khaled Abdelrahman, member of the doctors’ strike committee at the Egyptian Doctors Syndicate said in a phone interview with Al-Jazeera Saturday that the strike will continue until the cadre is implemented as demanded by striking doctors.

A pay raise of EGP 300 is an insult to doctors, Abdelrahman said. He pointed out that the most important request is increasing the health sector budget to improve the system in Egypt. They also demanded the resignation of the Minister of Health and demanded that civil servants be treated at government hospitals rather than private ones to be at equal footing with underprivileged people.
