Lieberman calls for alliances with Arab states

June 3, 2014 at 9:48 am

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has called for the establishment of alliances with moderate Arab states to achieve, as he put it, their common interests.

Lieberman said yesterday: “Israel must aspire to achieve regional alliances with the moderate Arab world”, pointing out that the Arabs are not necessarily concerned with the Palestinian cause.

He added: “If it was possible to travel by plane from Tel Aviv to Doha or Riyadh and do business, it would be a completely different reality.”

He pointed out that the settlement with the Palestinians is important for Israel’s relationship with Europe, but not with the Arab world, and the fact that Palestinians are Arabs does not mean much.
