Hamas’ Deputy Chairman Mousa Abu Marzouk left the Gaza Strip yesterday, via the Rafah border crossing into Egypt, a Hamas spokesman announced.

“The Deputy Chairman of the Hamas political bureau Dr Mousa Abu Marzouk has left the Gaza Strip returning to his residence in Cairo,” Sami Abu Zuhri said.

Abu Zuhri pointed out that this “ended his [Abu Marouk’s] visit to Gaza which lasted for several weeks”.

Abu Marzouk headed the movement’s reconciliation talks with Fatah which led to the signing of a reconciliation agreement.

According to a Palestinian official “Abu Marzouk’s trip to Egypt comes in coordination with the Egyptian authorities.”
