Jordanian Tourism Minister Nayef Al-Fayiz said yesterday that “popular forces must defend Islamic sites instead of UN forces dedicated for the same purpose,” the Anadolu Agency reported.
In an exclusive remark to Anadolu Al-Fayiz said: “The duty of every Muslim is to protect Islamic sites which have so much significant for us. These sites have been protected across cultures and our duty as Muslim and Arab nations is to protect them.”
Meanwhile, Jordanian Awqaf Minister Hayel Dawood said his country includes thousands of Islamic and historical tourism sites and this is attractive for tourists.
Palestinian Authority Awqaf Minister Yousef Adabes said: “Al-Aqsa Mosque is being subjected to an Israeli aggression aiming to partition it… Jordan and Palestine will never allow Israel to do this.”
He added: “The current popular uprising in Palestine is part of defending Al-Aqsa Mosque and it is in need of the support of Arab states.”
