Meshaal: Palestinian unity important for success of uprising

November 5, 2015 at 11:36 am

Chief of the Hamas political bureau Khaled Meshaal yesterday said Palestinian unity is vital for the uprising’s success and called for the need “to stop the security coordination between the Palestinian Authority’s security apparatus and Israel”.

Meshaal added that Hamas has conducted several meetings with Arab factions to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.

He called on the need to synchronize the action on the ground and diplomatic work, according to an effective strategy, saying “some people are worried that the uprising would be a burden, but it is a need for all of us, and our responsibility as leaders is to draw a common vision for the uprising and thwart the Israeli occupation scheme to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

“The Jerusalem Intifada has provided tangible evidence that the Palestinian people will not allow the Israeli occupation to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque whatever the regional or local circumstances are,” he said.

“The enemy’s crimes and Palestinian people’s courage reflect the real picture to the world about what is really going on,” he added.

Meshaal said Israel thought it could bury the uprising with a few tactical steps but it has failed, adding that the Jerusalem Intifada is a message to the US that delaying the resolution to the Palestinian cause will not do any good.
