Egypt opens Rafah Crossing after 100-day closure

December 3, 2015 at 10:30 am

Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah Crossing yesterday for two days, after it had been closed for 100 days, Palestinian Al-Resalah newspaper reported.

A Palestinian official told Al-Resalah that only stranded travellers on both the Egyptian and Palestinian sides would be able to travel.

The officials said that travellers from Gaza would be chosen from those whose names have been registered with the interior ministry.

Egyptian authorities claim the crossing is closed due to the unstable situation in Sinai.

More than 25,000 Palestinians, mostly patients, students and workers, have been trapped in the Gaza Strip due to the closure.
