December 5, 2015 at 1:55 pm

Three battalions of the Turkish forces entered Iraq to take part in the liberatiion of Mosul from Daesh, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported Peshmerga leaders as saying yesterday.

Colonel General Bahram al-Dosoki said preparations are underway to receive the Turkish troops, who entered Iraq as part of the efforts of the international coalition against Daesh.

Al-Dosoki denied knowledge of the role the Turkish forces would play in the expected battle.

The Turkish army has previously provided training assistance to Peshmerga forces, but this is thought to be the first time Turkish troops have entered Iraq.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi called on the Turkish troops to immediately leave the country, calling it a “breach” of Iraq’s sovereignty.
