Russia launched a series of indiscriminate airstrikes against the opposition-held Syrian city of Douma, on the outskirts of Damascus, yesterday.
The aerial assault consisted of 12 cluster bombs, 53 rockets and more than 100 martyrs. At least 45 people were killed and more than 100 injured.
Syrian photojournalist Firas Abdullah was on the scene after the strikes. The previous day, the residents of Douma held a protest calling for children to be protected from the Assad regime and Russia’s bombs.
The sign on the right reads ‘At our school we hide from rockets every day’. The sign in the middle says ‘Your death, my friend, will not prevent me from completing my education’.
