Italy has agreed to treat 15 Libyan cadets wounded in an attack on a truck in the northwestern coastal city of Zliten on 7 January, Anadolu reported.
Italian news agency ANSA said the cadets, who were flown to Rome, are being treated at the Policlinico Militare Celio hospital.
In a statement the Italian government said it had accepted a call from the Libyan unity government to treat cadets with serious injuries, adding that an Italian plane moved the wounded with the coordination of the Libyan prime minister’s office.
It added that “this operation is a concrete gesture of solidarity and attention by Italy for the Libyan people at a particularly delicate moment for the stabilisation of the country.”
Reuters said Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack which killed at least 47 people and wounded more than 100.
