Scores of Palestinian families in Rafah were evacuated yesterday after their homes were flooded by rainwater, Palsawa.com reported.

Chairman of the Emergency Committee in the town of Rafah Osama Abu Naqira said: “The families were evacuated after their houses were submerged with rainwater in Jomeezat Al-Sabeel, Western Camp in Al-Genina and Tel Al-Sultan neighbourhoods.”

“It is still raining and the rainwater has already blocked many roads and vital areas in the city,” noting that his staff had rescued five cars which were stuck in the rainwater.

The rain caused three landslides across the city, Abu Naqira explained. He called on people not to approach the flooded areas, fearing unseen and unexpected landslides.

He said that all rainwater pumps are working but electricity shortages and some mechanical problems due to the Israeli siege are limiting their work.
