Opposition criticises Egyptian support for Russia’s military intervention in Syria

February 19, 2016 at 9:38 am

Egypt’s National Alliance to Support Legitimacy and Reject the Coup yesterday condemned the country’s support for Russia’s military intervention in Syria, accusing Moscow of “shedding Syrians blood”.

The alliance, which supports Egypt’s ousted President Mohamed Morsi, said in a post on Facebook that “the coup regime is coordinating with Russia which kills innocent Syrians under false claims”.

Russia claims its airstrikes target Daesh, however the US and Syrian opposition forces stress that more than 90 per cent of the targets are civilian and moderate opposition locations.

The alliance has also called on Egyptians to take part in the weekly demonstrations against poverty.
