June 16, 2016 at 10:55 am

Israeli marine forces yesterday arrested 10 Palestinian fishermen off the Gaza coast and confiscated their four fishing boats, Quds Press reported.

Head of the Fishermen Syndicate Nizar Ayyash said the Israeli marine forces surrounded the four fishermen while they were working in the north of the Gaza sea, arresting them and towing their boats.

Israeli media reported that the 10 fishermen were arrested after they violated the six mile fishing zone, Ayyash denied the claim.

According to Al-Mezan Centre for Human Rights, since the start of 2016 until 22 May, the Israeli navy targeted fishermen 58 times, arrested 65, including 10 minors, wounded six fishermen, confiscated 22 fishing boats and destroyed 10 others.
