The Leader of Tunisia’s Ennahda movement Sheikh Rachid Ghannouchi and an accompanying party delegation have arrived in Paris for an official visit.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the French National Assembly Elisabeth Guigou has received Ghannouchi and his accompanying delegation.

The movement leader delivered a speech about the democratic transition in Tunisia and the challenges currently facing Tunisia.

Ghannouchi stressed during his speech the depth of Tunisian-French relations and the importance of working to strengthen them on different levels.

Jalal Al- Ouargi, a member of the movement’s Shura Council, said in an interview with Quds Press that Ennahda’s visit to France is the first visit by a semi high-level delegation since the movement begun.

The visit comes within the framework of building strong diplomatic relations with all international parties, given the movement’s active role in the Tunisian political scene, he said.

The delegation is expected to meet with French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and French Parliament Speaker Claude Bartolone.
