Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi on Monday discussed with a delegation from the US Congress ways to develop bilateral relations, especially in the security and economic fields.

The delegation was led by Republican Party Congressman and member of the Partnership for Democracy Commission for Florida Vern Buchanan.

A statement released by Tunisia’s presidency pointed out that Essebsi commended, during the meeting, the cooperation between Tunisia and the United States.

He reportedly expressed aspirations for Tunisia to develop the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the security and economic areas and in light of the deep relations between them and the challenges facing Tunisia during this sensitive period.

MP Buchanan reaffirmed the keenness of the US side to support Tunisia’s efforts to achieve its development programs and complete its democratic path.
