Tunisia sets May 8 as National Day Against Torture

Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi has approved making 8 May a National Day Against Torture, the head of the Tunisian Association for the Fight Against Torture announced yesterday.

Radhia Nasraoui made the announcement in a statement published by the Tunisian presidency after her meeting with Essebsi at the Carthage Palace.

Nasraoui added that the meeting addressed ways of working to consolidate the protection of freedoms and human rights in Tunisia as a guarantee for completing the democratic process on a solid basis.
