The Muslim Brotherhood in Syria will not accept the imposition of “political solutions under pressure”, the group said yesterday.
“We reject the Assad regime and his supporting countries’ attempts to impose political solutions under pressure, and this position is shared by all the revolutionary factions,” the group’s Secretary-General Mohammed Walid Hekman said in a press conference.
Hekman said the Syrian regime and its allies are seeking to achieve a military victory and then look for a political resolution to the conflict.
He thanked Turkey for its support for the Syrian people. Earlier, the group expressed its support for the Turkish military campaign in the north of Syria which Ankara said aims to deter Daesh.
Hekmat said Turkey has a right to defend itself and protect its borders and security, just like any other country.
