Some 4,800 protests have been held in Tunisia between January and September this year, according to observers.

Ramadan Bin Omar, spokesperson of the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, said: “From January 2016 to the start of September, Tunisia has since an increase in the number of protests held whose number has reached 4,800 compared to 4,965 in all of 2015.”

“January alone witnessed a record 1,400 protests,” he added.

“The protests draw attention to the depth of the economic and social crises Tunisia has been facing since the revolution in 2011.”
