US forces expect further chemical weapons

September 27, 2016 at 1:06 am

A Spokesman for the US military has said that they expect that their forces will be exposed to chemical weapons as in the run up to a possible attack on Mosul – a Daesh Stronghold in Iraq.
Chemical agents reportedly impacted US forces on 20 September when a shell fired from Daesh forces fired a shell into a bas in Qayara, where US troops are involved in training Iraqi units. No American solders were killed.
Speaking on Monday, Capt. Jeff Davis said

I think we can fully expect, as this road toward Mosul progresses, ISIL is likely to try to use it again,

Davis went on to say

They are dead set on it. They would love to use chemical weapons against us and against the Iraqis as they move forward and we are making every effort to make sure we are ready for it

US forces are well equipped to withstand such an attack, according to Davis. Additionally the US army has supplied 50,000 gas masks to Iraqi and Kurdish peshmerga forces with whom they are fighting alongside.
