Professor of Constitutional Law in El Manar University Qais Said has ruled out “possible disengagement” between Tunisia’s Ennahda party and Nidaa Tounes, Quds Press reported yesterday.

Said considered the relationship between the two parties as an “implementation of a local deal with international support,” noting that the deal was reached and signed outside Tunisia in 2013.

He stressed that the political climate in his country does not need the usual opposition, but new tools as the situation in Tunis is “much more complicated”.

“Tunisians are looking for certain ambitions that the politicians do not have,” he said, “therefore, the priority is to create new political tools completely different from those which currently exist.”
