Deputy Chairman of Tunisia’s transitional justice committee, Truth & Dignity Commission (TDC), Khaled Al-Krichi announced that the agreed funds, which fall under the reconciliation agreement between the businessman Slim Chiboub and the former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali last May, are being transferred to the state’s treasury.

Tunisian official news agency TAP quoted Al-Kirchi on Sunday saying that the transfer of Chiboub’s funds from abroad to the state’s treasury is currently on-going; pointing out that the Commission will soon inform the public about the value of the amount which Chiboub is committed to transfer to Tunisia.

He stressed that the reconciliation and arbitration mechanism plays a significant role in achieving transitional justice, noting that this mechanism will enable the state to providing additional financial resources through recovering looted money.
