The Iranian government has come under criticism from opposition groups in the country for its support for its policies in Syria and support for President Bashar Al-Assad, local news sites said.

Secretary-General of Union of Islamic Iran People Party, Ali Shakouri-Rad, said: “If Bashar Al-Assad left government, we would not have any place or base for us in Syria, and our investment will go down the drain.”

“Everything we have spent to date was for the survival of Assad, but his fate is still unknown.”
