‘PA committed to maintaining status quo in Jerusalem’

A majority of the Palestinians rejected statements made by senior Palestinian official and a member of the Fatah Central Committee, Jibril Rajoub in which he said that the Western Wall in occupied East Jerusalem’s Old City should “remain under Jewish sovereignty”.

In a survey conducted by Al-Resalah media organisation, 94.2 per cent of respondents rejected Rajoub’s comments. Only 3.75 per cent agreed with the comments while two per cent said they were neutral.

Some 1,040 people took part in the poll.

In an interview with Israel’s Channel 2, Rajoub said the Palestinian Authority is committed to maintaining the status quo in occupied Jerusalem.
