Join Israeli-American military drills simulating regional war started in Israel yesterday morning, Sama news agency reported.

Reporting Israeli mass media, Sama said that the military drills simulate a comprehensive war and rocket attack from multiple fronts on Israel, mainly from the southern and northern fronts.

About 2,500 US soldiers and 2,000 Israelis are taking part in the drills, which will last for one week, the news agency said.

These drills aim to reinforce military cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two armies, as well as to raise the defensive readiness for the joint forces, the armies announced last week.

The drills have been carried out annually since 2001.
