Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh revealed on Sunday that the military wing of his movement had thwarted hundreds of security and intelligence schemes in Gaza, Al-Resalah newspaper reported.

During the funeral processions for six members of Al-Qassam Brigades, who were killed as they were dismantling an Israel landmine planted in a box for a private telecommunication network in Gaza, Haniyeh said: “Today’s martyrs had maintained the security depth along with protecting hundreds of resistance fighters.”

He stressed: “The Palestinian resistance – led by Hamas and its military wing Al-Qassam Brigades – have been involved in battles on multiple fronts, including armed battles, security, popular, political and information battles.”

The Palestinian resistance is involved in an open battle with the enemy and it will continue this battle until it raises the victory and liberation flags throughout Palestine.

The top Hamas leader said that these martyrs “are dear to us,” and they sacrificed their souls “in a complex intelligence operation” for the sake of the Palestinian people.

Haniyeh reiterated that the Israeli occupation does not stop tracking and targeting the Palestinian resistance at all levels, stressing that Hamas is honoured to be defending Palestinians and their resistance groups.

He hailed the Palestinian security services in the Gaza Strip, which he said, do not engage in security cooperation with the Israeli occupation.

Concluding his speech, Haniyeh said that “deterrence is achieved through persistence, resilience and sacrifice for the sake of the homeland.”
