Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that the US is threatening the unity of Syrian territory, Quds Press reported on Friday.

Speaking to the Russian news agency Interfax, Lavrov said that the US domination over the east bank of the Euphrates is considered a “major threat to the unity of the Syrian land.”

He added that Russia and Turkey have agreed on the borders of the demilitarised zone in Idlib, in the north of Syria, stressing that Al-Nusra fighters must leave the area by the middle of October.

It is worth noting that Idlib and the surrounding areas were declared to be a de-escalation zone during a meeting in Astana held in May last year. A number of such zones were guaranteed by Turkey, Russia and Iran.
