An Israeli court yesterday ruled that a Palestinian family can be evicted from their home in Jerusalem after inheriting it from their mother, the Wadi Al-Hilwa Information Centre reported.

The court gave the family until March to evacuate the house which is built on an aea of 500 square metres in Silwan.

Ilham Siyam and here four siblings live in the house.

The family had provided the Israeli High Court with all the necessary documents to prove ownership of the property and it was due to convene in February, however the Magistrate’s Court’s decision was seen as a pre-emptive measure.

The legal battle has been ongoing for 22 years, the family said, as the Israeli Al-Ad Association claims ownership of the property which overlooks Al-Aqsa Mosque.
