Israel expert: Security coordination with PA helps Israel economy prosper

Security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and Israel in the occupied West Bank has contributed to the prosperity of the Israeli economy, Academic Director of the Adva Centre Dr. Shlomo Swirski said.

In an article published in Israel’s Globes magazine, Swirski said that since PA President Mahmoud Abbas took office in the West Bank he has fought the Palestinian resistance.

“This calm has led to the prosperity of Israeli economic activities in West Bank settlements and inside Israel,” he explained.

“The events in the West Bank, which preceded Abu Mazen’s [Abbas’] presidency, led to the killing of dozens of Israelis and the disruption of economic activities in the West Bank which has affected the Israeli economy considerably,” Swirski said, adding: “Abu Mazen’s policies in the West Bank in parallel with the policies of the Israeli Central Bank and the Netanyahu government have contributed to the prosperity of the Israeli economy, increased the volume of tourism, reduced unemployment as well as the financial deficit in Israel.”
