Hamas has warned Israel against moving forward with the controversial Flag March which is to be held by Jewish right-wing nationalists today in parts of Jerusalem’s Old City.

The movement warned in a statement that the march of Israeli flags aims to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque spatially as part of a “systematic Zionist plan to change the geographical reality in the Holy City” with American support, international complicity, and clear Arab and Islamic silence and amid the Palestinian Authority’s shameless ongoing security coordination with the occupier.

The statement held Israel fully responsible for the consequences of its “crimes against Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque as well as attempts to divide it,” and called on the Palestinians in Jerusalem and Israel to resist it by all means.

The statement demanded the Palestinian Authority (PA) stop security coordination with Israel and stop persecuting the resistance.

It also called on the Jordanian king, parliament, government, and people in their capacity as guardians of holy sites in Jerusalem to shoulder their responsibility in defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque and force Israel to stop its desecration and Judaisation.

The Flag March sees far-right Israeli ultra-nationalists flooding through Muslim areas celebrating the capture of East Jerusalem by Zionist occupation forces following a second wave of ethnic cleansing in 1967. Chanting “death to Arabs” and singing racist and highly offensive songs, thousands are seen parading through Muslim areas flying the Israeli flag.
