Israel’s outgoing President Reuven Rivlin wore a false beard and wig to wander the streets unrecognised, Shin Bet has revealed

Israel’s Shin Bet agency today disclosed that outgoing President Reuven Rivlin wore a disguise to walk around in public without being recognised.

“The Shin Bet, on the occasion of the end of President Reuven Rivlin’s term, allowed the publication of a picture of him walking around the country accompanied by guards, disguised as someone else,” the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation said.

Rivlin wore “a false beard and wig” and was surrounded by undercover security officials.

“Rivlin was walking around the country in disguise without anyone recognising him,” it added.

The official, who has served as president for seven years, will step down today following the inauguration ceremony of Isaac Herzog who was voted in last month.
