Extremist settlers burned copies of the Holy Quran in the occupied city of Hebron today, after they stormed a mosque and stole the holy scripture, tore it up and threw it in the bin.
The Director of the Hebron Endowments, Nidal Al-Jabari, stated that settlers tore and burned a number of Qurans and threw them in the garbage by the Qaitoun Mosque, near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Old City of occupied Hebron.
He pointed out that the attacks on the mosques come after a series of attacks carried out by settlers against the Ibrahimi Mosque and the houses surrounding it, according to a statement issued to the Wafa news agency.
Last September, occupation forces prevented the call to prayer 57 times in the Ibrahimi Mosque and closed it for one day during to allow settlers to mark a Jewish holiday. They continue to prevent employees of the mosque from inspecting the roof, maintaining minarets and loudspeakers, and repairing ablution areas, as well as the entrance to the mosque.
