Erdogan calls on US to find 'terrorist' who attacked Turkish Consulate

An unknown attacker smashed windows of the Turkish Consulate in New York. Turkish President Erdogan said the US has a duty to protect this building and 'must quickly find this terrorist and do what is necessary'. The US State Department downplayed it as an act of vandalism that would be dealt with by local law enforcement.

Turkiye wants US authorities to find the terrorist who attacked the (Turkevi) Turkish House in New York City, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday, local Turkish media reports.

According to the report, Erdogan said the US needs to immediately find the terrorist and hold him/her accountable for the crime.

“In Europe, the (terrorist group) PKK has seen that things are getting worse, (and) they have started to attack the voters. They probably say that these voters are in favour of the People’s Alliance. That’s why they attack them.”

The Turkish House, a skyscraper housing Turkish diplomatic missions in New York, came under attack on Monday.
