Erdogan appoints Ibrahim Kalin as head of Turkish Intelligence Agency, MIT

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has appointed Ibrahim Kalin head of the National Intelligence Organisation (MIT), the Communications Directorate said on Monday, local Turkish news media reports.

According to the report, British Foreign Intelligence Agency, MI6, Head, Richard Moore, who also served as an Ambassador in Turkiye, congratulated Ibrahim Kalın.

Before his new appointment, Kalin had served as Turkiye’s presidential spokesman since 2014, report added.

Kalin, 51, also served as deputy Chairman of the Security and Foreign Policy Council of the Turkish Presidency and chief adviser to Erdogan since 2018.

Following his 28 May election win, Erdogan on Saturday unveiled his new Cabinet after his inauguration in the capital, Ankara. Erdogan appointed Hakan Fidan as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
