The Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs as well as Palestinian factions called on Wednesday for international intervention to stop Israeli settler attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque, Anadolu has reported.

“We renew our calls for an immediate international intervention to stop the settler violations, provocation and attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque,” said the ministry. At the same time, it called for all parties to respect the historical and legal status quo of the mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, and not to let the extreme far-right Israeli government implement its Judaisation plan.

“What is happening inside Al-Aqsa Mosque is an implementation of the spatial and temporal partition as Muslim worshippers are being beaten or banned from entering the mosque at the time that settlers are encouraged to raid and desecrate the sanctuary.”

The ministry pointed out the increasing scale of settler attacks on Muslim and Christian holy sites and property across the holy city.

Hamas also condemned settler violations and attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque, and insisted that, “Israeli measures will not change the reality on the ground.”

Furthermore, Al-Ahrar Movement rejected the official Israeli patronage of the settler attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque. During a gathering for women in the north of the Gaza Strip, the movement urged the international community to deter the Israeli violations “before it is too late,” warning that ongoing violations “might lead to a religious war in the whole region.”

All of Israel’s Jewish settlers and settlements in the occupied Palestinian West Bank and Jerusalem are illegal under international law.
