Israel said it had not been informed that Bahrain had recalled its ambassador, adding that relations with the Gulf state were “stable”.
This comes after it was reported that the Bahraini Council of Representatives, the lower house of the country’s National Assembly, had announced yesterday that the Israeli ambassador had left the kingdom, Bahrain’s envoy to Tel Aviv had returned to Manama, and economic ties with Israel had been severed.
Israel has not received any “announcement or decision from the Bahraini government to recall the countries’ ambassadors,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Bahrain normalised relations with Israel in 2020 as part of the Abraham Accords, which were brokered by the United States.
It said it was cutting ties with the occupation state in response to its actions and murder of Palestinians in Gaza.
