Mundra Port in India serves as alternative route for Israel amid Red Sea threats

Israeli Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, on Tuesday revealed a new route for goods to be sent to Israel from India bypassing the threat of the Houthis in the Red Sea.

The new land route is an alternative to the normal sea route used, which has been suspended due to the Houthi attacks on Israel-linked vessels after Tel Aviv launched its devastating war on the besieged Gaza Strip in early October.

“We are now in the port of Mundra, the largest port in India in the far north, from which goods come out… all these shipments are exported to the UAE, and from the UAE by land to Israel.”

“War has imposed challenges on us. The biggest challenge is how to supply goods to the state of Israel. The state of Israel is like an island and all goods arrive by sea,” she claimed in the video.

She explained that the goods are exported from the Indian port to the UAE by sea, and then are transported via trucks by land through Saudi Arabia to Jordan, then to Israel.

In an earlier post on X, Regev said the land route will shorten the transport period by 12 days, and significantly reduce the current waiting time.

A report by the Israeli Channel 13 said the trucks coming from Dubai and Abu Dhabi carry all types of goods, including vegetables, fruits, electronics and other products.

The land route comes as 2.3 million Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip are rapidly approaching the stage of acute famine after Israel continues to prevent the entry of essential humanitarian aid to them, including food and medicine.
